It is with immense sadness we share the news that Keith Lyons died on 13th May 2020, aged 68. Keith was heavily involved with Wales Lacrosse and in its success. His greatest contribution was with the 1997 Women’s World Cup team in Japan where he was instrumental in the team achieving their highest ever world ranking of 4th place. One of the team described him as “their extra player on the pitch”.
For the first time, matches were recorded digitally with performance analysis enabling Wales to have insight into their opposition. This, together with Keith’s 1:1 player feedback, gave the squad such self-belief that they ultimately achieved their full potential.
Keith was an unassuming man who willingly shared his wisdom and intellect. His contribution, both to individuals’ and to international team performances, was immeasurable.
We mourn the loss of such a special man and offer our heartfelt condolences to Sue, Beth, Sam and family.
