About The Dragons Academy
The Dragon Academy has been created to support the development of lacrosse players in Wales and with Welsh heritage. We provide support and encouragement for each player to find the right level of lacrosse whether that be within a performance environment in the future, or to continue to play recreationally.
We have created a team of coaches who follow an ethos of caring for each player whilst encouraging them to find the best of themselves both on and off the pitch.
We recognise that players develop at different rates and in different ways in all areas of required skill set (technical, tactical, physiological, psychological and social). The pathway allows players to enter at different stages and ensures that everyone has playing opportunities that are appropriate in order for them to develop and continue to enjoy playing lacrosse through their lifetime.
Responsibilities
Implementing the Dragons player centred athlete program.
Planning and delivering sessions against the program objectives.
Developing a deep understanding of team and individual strengths and areas for development and creating appropriate interventions to address these areas of concern.
Working alongside Dragons coaches, assistant coaches and other stakeholders to ensure the program athletes receive a best in class experience.
Role modelling for program participants and other coaches on and off the field.
Responsibility for delivering verbal feedback to players during squad weekends and post squad meets electronically.
Foster an environment where players can take risks and develop their individual skills and personality.
Championing the Dragons Academy Program and supporting the vision for the WLA.
Keep a breadth of developments in the game, changes in rules, technology, tactics etc.
Work collaboratively with the Dragons team to enhance the program.
Able to travel to venues across the UK for training weekends, tournaments and CPD events.
Involvement in team selection for fixtures, tournaments etc.
Responsible for feedback of players to peers and Head of u19s programme.
