Senior Men’s Programme


An exciting opportunity has risen for a Strength and Conditioning Coach to join our Senior Men’s Team as they prepare for World Championship Qualifier in April 2022 followed hopefully by the Men’s World Championship in July 2023 in Los Angeles, USA.

Wales Lacrosse is a small National Governing Body, supporting the development of lacrosse at all levels within Wales and for those of Welsh heritage.

The athletes in our Elite National Squads perform at the very top of their sport whilst managing challenging careers or studies. They finely balance the physical, mental and time pressures across their respective commitments, but always give everything to the team. We are seeking a Strength and Conditioning coach to support and encourage further excellence in our Elite National Squad.

Responsibilities include

  • Improving performance and reducing injury through design, delivery and evaluation of S&C programmes that reflect scientific principles.

  • Delivering individual and group sessions to all squad players where appropriate, online or at squad weekends, as coordinated with the Head Coach.

  • Collaborating with the Head of Medical and Masseur to optimise injury reduction and rehabilitation.

  • Effectively problem solve in creating the best possible strength and conditioning service for players and coaches .

  • Support the coaches in aligning wider sports science (Nutrition / Physio) support to agreed performance outcomes.

  • Develop and implement systems and methodologies to evaluate the success of the senior men’s programme.

  • Providing relevant support at training weekends, tours and tournaments, where required.

  • Ensure and promote equality of opportunity, respecting diversity and recognising the needs of different groups and individuals.

Senior Men’s Head Coach and Head of Medical


Person Specification

  • Previous experience of working in a performance environment.

  • A proven track record of developing elite athletes physical robustness in partnership with coaches.

  • Ability to design, implement and monitor training programmes aligned to the needs of the individual and sport.

  • Able to work effectively, using excellent communication and problems solving skills, in a team of coaches and support staff.

  • Strong planning and organisational skills, ability to prioritise and meet timescales.

  • Innovative approaches to addressing challenges .

  • Ability to reflect upon work to create positive change .

  • Previous lacrosse experience is not necessary.

  • Degree level (or equivalent) in Sport Science/S&C .

  • UKSCA accreditation / equivalent (or working towards) .

  • IT literate.
